AFTER THE RAIN: FRESH BLUES AND GREENS

some of my embroiderers have been working on these shawls very slowly, and have finally

finished these exceptional pieces. their work is very finely detailed, with complex miniaturised flowers and traditional paisley.

underneath: bright peacock blue shawl all over embroidered with complex flower motives using white, olive and a little china blue, with a beautiful decorative border. although heavily embroidered, this shawl is light and a dream to wear.

top pompom: a wonderful lime shawl with a wide finely worked border of charcoal and different whites.

bottom pompom: a fine light white shawl with a wonderful border using cobalt and other soft blues in abundance.

embroidered jali

jali means literally ‘a net’, which carries the sense of a fine cloth that one can see the light through, rather like a stained glass window.

the result is a light shawl, soft and beautifully worked. wear with a pair of jeans or a ball gown. covetable shawls and fashion statements of warmth and flattery.

whether embroidered lightly or heavily, with a border or with beads – each one of these shawls is a work of individuality and detail.
