QUIET MASTERPIECES: WONDERFUL WEAVING

showing off some special skills again, these pieces are woven in undyed yarn with a colour stripe across the two widths of the shawl. These stripes are beautifully embroidered with wonderful leaf motifs which incorporate fantastically detailed paisley, flowers and trees, beautifully designed to enhance the shawl.

the long sides of the shawl are hand embroidered with little flowers and skilled hand whipping.

left: three natural shawls with contrasting stripes in blue, fuchsia or rose.

right: natural shawl with very wide pale pink stripe, embroidered with silver, natural and pale pink.

bottom right pompom: lovely blue with embroidery in gold, rosy pink and violet.

special borders

contrast woven borders: natural shawls are woven with a contrasting colour border and then enhanced with delicate silk embroidery in toning colours.

antique borders: rare borders are taken from nineteenth century shawls surviving as remnants (we would never cut up a whole old shawl).

the antique border is appliqued by hand to a new shawl to create a genuine vintage piece.
